The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) has approved the procurement of 111 Utility Helicopters for the Indian Navy under the strategic partnership model. About 16 will be taken in fly away condition and 95 will be done in later stage by the Indian manufacturer.

French shipbuilder Naval Group (formerly DCNS) has responded to the IN’s request for information (RFI) for Project-75(I), a INR500 billion (USD7.81 billion) procurement programme with assurance of maximum usage of indigenous content, transfer of technology, and advanced weapon systems as a OEM in this “Strategic Partner” (SP) programme.

Goa Ship Yard (GSY) is in the talks with South Korean firm for manufacturing of 12 Mines Countermeasure Vessels (MCSV) for Indian Navy. The GSY is also boosting its capacities and mordernising its yard to design and manufacture vessels like these. The project cost around Rs. 32,000 crore.

Indigenously developed light weight Glide Bomb, SAAW (Smart Anti Airfield Weapon) was successfully tested from Indian Air Force aircraft, in the ranges at ITR, Chandipur. The guided bomb released from the aircraft and guided through precision navigation system, reached the targets at greater than 70 km range, with high accuracies.
