India to buy 2 more “Phalcon” AWACS Aircraft

India is likely to sign the long pending deal to acquire two more “Phalcon” Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) aircraft worth around $1 Billion from Israel to be mounted on Russian Ilyushin-76 heavy-lift aircraft. These will be delivered in three to four years once the deal is signed. As of now, the process of approval for these Phalcon AWACS has reached final stage and awaiting CCS clearance.

The two new Phalcon AWACS will add to the three such aircraft inducted by the IAF in 2009-2011 under a $1.1 billion contract and would be more advanced than the already inducted Phalcon Aircraft.
