Accidents Due to Poor Quality of Ammunition

The Indian Army concern on poor quality OFB ammunition such as  Air defence,  Artillery, Tank  Ammunition and different calibres of Small Arms bullets  has been raised in number of occasions. Lack of accountability and poor quality of production have resulted  403 accidents due to  faulty ammunition since 2014. These have resulted in death of  27 troops  and  159 being seriously injured, including permanent disabilities and loss of limbs,  besides Rs 960 crore worth of faulty Ammunition being rejected between 2014 and 2020.
