India procures gas turbine engines from Ukraine

India has acquired gas turbine engines from Ukrainian company Zorya-Mashproekt for the Admiral Grigorovich-class stealth frigates, namely Admiral Butakov and Admiral Istomin, being built in Russia by Yantar Shipyard, Kaliningrad for the Indian Navy. As of now, these have been delivered to Russia.

Previously, India had in 2016 inked an inter-governmental agreement with Russia for building of  four  Admiral  Grigorovich-class

frigates which are basically a follow-on of the Talwar-class frigates which are already in service with the Indian Navy. Subsequently, a contract was signed at the end of 2018. As per the deal, two ships are to be built in Russia, while the other two to be built at the Goa Shipyard in India with technical collaboration from Russia. The first of the two frigates will be delivered to Indian Navy by 2022-end, while the second vessel is scheduled to be delivered six months later in 2023.
