Indian Amy keen to buy Software Defined Radios

The Indian Army is interested in procuring of state-of-the-art Software Defined Radios (SDRs) from Indian companies which will eventually replace Combat Net Radio (CNR) that are presently being used. A contract for the same is expected to be signed in coming months. The present radio sets in the Indian Army are hardware-based, with separate radio sets for High Frequency, Very High, and Ultra High frequencies and have little or no data capability, thereby restricting the proliferation of network-centric operations. The procurement of high-frequency SDR will address these operational and technological voids.
