Indian Navy receives ‘Shakti’ electronic warfare system

The Indian Navy (IN) has received an advanced Electronic Warfare (EW) system 'Shakti' developed by Defence Electronics Research Laboratory of DRDO for Navy’s capital ships to detect, classify, identify, jam and interfere with conventional and advanced radar. As of now, twelve Shakti Systems are under production at Bharat Electronics Ltd trusted at a total cost of Rs 1,805 Crores. The first Shakti system has been installed on-board INS Visakhapatnam and second Shakti system is being installed on-board Indigenous Aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant. Further, systems are scheduled to be installed on-board capital warships under production including P-15B, P-17A and Talwar class follow-on ships.
