DAC meet on 23 Nov 2021

The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) on 23 Nov 2021 accorded approval to Capital Acquisition proposals of the Armed Forces valued at around Rs 7236 Crores. These includes: -

  • Procurement of GSAT-7C satellite and ground hubs worth Rs 2236 Crores under ‘Make in India’ category for the Indian Air Force (IAF) for real-time connectivity of software defined radios. The project envisages complete design, development and launching of satellite in India.
  • Approval for manufacturing 7.5 lakh AK-203 assault rifles for the Indian Army under the ‘Make in India’ initiative. The deal worth Rs 5000 Crores is part of the Inter-Government Agreement signed with Russia, under which the first 70,000 rifles will be off-the-shelf, after which the transfer of technology for the guns to be made in India will begin.
