Airbus signs $93 Mn contract with BEL for C-295 aircraft program

Spain based Airbus Defence and Space has signed a contract worth $93 Million with DPSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) for the manufacture and supply of two advanced radar systems - indigenous Radar Warning Receiver (RWR) and Missile Approach Warning System (MAWS) - that have been indigenously developed by the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO). This procurement is a part of Airbus’s offset commitments under the C-295 aircraft procurement program. Previously, the Indian Defence Ministry in September 2021 had signed a $2.5 Billion contract with Airbus for procuring 56 C-295 transport aircrafts to replace the Avro-748 aircrafts of the Indian Air Force.
