Indian Navy commissions 4th Scorpene-class submarine INS Vela

The Indian Navy has commissioned its fourth, stealth Scorpene-class submarine built under Project 75, named as INS Vela. The Project 75 includes the construction of six submarines of Scorpene design under a contract signed between Mazgaon Docks Ltd and the DCNS of France (Naval Group). As of now three submarines, namely INS Kalvari, INS Khanderi and INS Karanj, have already been commissioned. The fifth Scorpene-class submarine INS Vagir is under sea trials while the sixth submarine INS Vagsheer is still under construction.
