Indian Army issues EoI for 155mm Terminally Guided Munitions

The Indian Army has issued an Expression of Interest (EoI) to buy 1,966 rounds of 155mm Terminally Guided Munitions (TGM) along with the support equipment, from Indian vendors under the ‘Make-II’ category of the Defence Acquisition Procedure 2020. However, currently no Indian vendor manufactures them. The EoI envisages that the terminally guided munition should be GPS guided and capable of carrying out precision strikes on identified targets instead of target area while cutting collateral damage in precision strikes. Besides, the Army wants the indigenous ammunition to be a low-cost option and also stated that the requirement of TGM will increase manifold in the future, with the majority of artillery regiments converting to 155mm guns as part of the ongoing artillery modernization plan.
