India, US Defence cooperation

With co-development and co-production of Defence products in mind, India and the United States recently have agreed to take the Defence Technology and Trade Initiative (DTTI) forward. Also, the two sides decided to take steps for the extension of the New Framework for the United States-India Defence relationship, before it expires in July 2015. Earlier, it was signed in June 28, 2005. Moreover, US is most likely to propose India to co-produce and co-development of Javelin infra-red-guided anti-tank missiles in near future which would further cement the ties between the two countries.
