The United States (US) has become the largest supplier of defence equipments to India in the last three years. Almost 40 percent of defence spending has gone to US, followed by Russia – 30%, French-14%, Israel-4%. It is to be noted that a total of Rs.83, 458 crore has been spend by India in the last three years on the procurement of defence related weaponries/equipments. The largest deals with US have been the deal for C 17 transporters at $4.7 billion followed by a contract for P 8I maritime reconnaissance aircraft and additional orders for C 130 J special operations aircraft.
