Israel and India’s co-developed advanced Barak-8 anti-missile sea-based version is now ready for full-rate production and expected to declare its initial operational capability shortly. Parallel the team is readying a ground-based version for the Indian Air Force, with projected deployment to begin next year and extend through 2017. Currently, the Indian Navy is planning to begin equipping the Barak-8 long-range surface-to-air missile defence system on its stealth warships which are under construction at state-owned Mazagon Docks.
