Russia has offered India to manufacture light-utility helicopters in line with the “Make in India” campaign and has offered its Kamov-226T helicopters. Understood the order could be for 384 helicopters, which could later be increased to 600 to replace the ailing Cheetah/Chetak fleet used by the Indian Army and Air Force. The size of deal expected to be around $3 billion and is intended for both Indian armed forces and export. For the chopper deal, public sector unit Hindustan Aeronautics Limited or an Indian private firm could partner with a foreign firm for production of helicopters in India. Additionally a deal to build 12 nuclear reactors in India also signed with Russia's state-owned Rosatom.
