Indian firms in fray for Naval Utility Copter deal

In response to the RFI issued in October 2014 under ‘Buy-Make (Indian) category for the procurement of 100 Nos. of Naval Utility Helicopters (NUH) worth over $2 Billion, over eight domestic firms including Tata Advanced Systems, Punj Llyod, Bharat Forge, Mahindra Aerospace, Reliance Defence and Aerospace, and DPSU Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) have recently submitted their responses. The Defence Ministry at present is studying them. The Indian firms have tied up with foreign firms for the deal. Most likely Reliance Group will be bidding with its Airbus platform while Bharat Forge will tie up with Augusta Westland. Bell Helicopters will tie up with Textron India while HAL has submitted an offer for the Kamov 226 helicopter, along with the Russians.
