Navy to launch indigenous destroyer

Indian Navy will soon be launching its new stealth destroyer INS Visakhapatnam build under Project 15 B. The ship is the first of the four follow-up orders of the Kolkata class warships (Project 15A) and is likely to be inducted in 2018. At 7,300 tones, Visakhapatnam will be the largest destroyer commissioned by the Indian Navy and is 65 per cent indigenous with a number of weapon systems which have been made in the country itself. The total cost of the project is expected to be around Rs 29600 crore.
