India offers Russia to jointly build frigates

Indian Government has shown interest to jointly produce frigates with Russia’s Baltic Shipyard “Yantar’, in India. Earlier the company has supplied six frigates to India between 2003 and 2013, under Project 11356 or Talwar class frigates, all of which were built by the ‘Baltic Plant’ in St. Petersburg and the Kaliningrad factory ‘Yantar’. Now the Government wants to produce such ships at home (India) under Project 11356, as Navy needed another three or four ships of this class. Currently the company is consulting with its Indian counterparts on the matter.
