DAC likely to clear Akash Missile contract soon

India Defence Ministry is likely to clear the Rs 5,000 crore procurement of 'Made in India' Akash missile. IAF is planning to induct seven squadrons of the Akash anti-air missile systems and the final approval from the DAC is awaited. The contract will involve significant private sector participation, with companies like Tata Power SED and Larsen & Toubro likely to get major work portions.
