Indian Defence Budget

India's defence budget outlay for the financial year 2016-17 is pegged at Rs 258589.32 Crores.  While this amounts to a meager hike of 4.81 percent on the basis of the budget allocation of 2015-16, but on being calculated against the revised estimates of the last fiscal which was Rs 230126 Crores, it comes around an increase of 12.37 percent. Out of the total budget, Rs 172401.2 crores has been allocated for revenue expenditure and Rs 86188.09 crores has been earmarked for capital expenditure for the three defence services, Ordnance Factories and R&D.
