Govt Scraps Torpedoes deal

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has scrapped the long-pending proposal worth Rs 1200 Crores to buy 98 heavy-weight torpedoes from WASS - a subsidiary of Italian company Finmeccanica for the Indian Navy. The company had offered Black Shark torpedoes. Now, the MoD is looking out for other alternative and is most likely will go for Sea Hake torpedos from Germanys Atlas Elektronik, who had come second during the bidding.
