No ‘Active Protection System’ for India’s T-90MS tank

India’s Future Main Battle Tank ‘T-90MS 'Tagil' will not be having active protection systems, due to single vendor situation. Russian 'Arena' active protection system withdrawn from the competition at the technical evaluation stage prior to field trials being held because it did not meet the technical criterion , leaving Israeli 'Trophy' system under the single vendor situation. In November, the government cleared a Rs. 13,448 crore deal to acquire 464 brand-new T-90MS 'Tagil' tanks. The active protection system is used to protect crew from incoming missile and shells before they hit the tank by destroying hostile projectiles upto 50 metres away from the tank.
