Ukraine eyeing Indian defence market

Ukraine is eyeing Indian Defence market and is going for Joint Ventures with Indian Firms. Most likely it go for jointly bid for Multirole Transport Aircraft (MTA) programme with Indian private-sector firm Reliance Defence and Aerospace (RDA), which will be co-developed andco-produced with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). The yet to release RFP from HAL may worth around $6 billion. Also Ukraine’s SpetsTechnoExport in partnership with RDA planning to bid for $2 billion programme to upgrade more than 1,500 BMP-2s. It has also partnered with Indian firm Punj Lloyd and submitted a proposal to the DRDO for supplying anti-tank missiles for Arjun Mk-II tanks being developed by DRDO. Another firm Ukroboronprom’s Gas Turbine Research & Production Complex Zorya-Mashproekt and India’s RDA is in talks for partnership in making gas turbines for the frigate and same Ukraine firm is in talks with private-sector firms Larsen & Toubro and Tata Advanced Systems to identify partnership areas under the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.
